PSA: A kid in my Intro to Python class tried to center a div for 3 hours with flexbox
He was on Zoom in the Discord study room, sighing every 30 seconds, and when I asked to see his screen he was nesting flex containers 4 levels deep to move one button. I showed him margin: 0 auto and text-align: center and he just stared at it for a bit. What's the dumbest thing you got stuck on for way too long when you were starting out?
Did he ever figure out that flexbox wasn't even the right tool for the job? Like, was he trying to center a button inside a full width header or was it just one div sitting in a regular old container? I've seen people go down this rabbit hole and start adding justify-content, align-items, then wrapping everything in ANOTHER div because the first fix didn't work on the first try. At what point does someone stop and think "maybe I'm overcomplicating this"? Because honestly, four levels of nesting for one button is wild, but I also get it, when you're new every problem looks like it needs the fancy solution.
