PSA: my palette died on a Friday deadline because I trusted the on screen swatches
I built a whole campaign palette in Figma around what looked like a nice warm tan, and it looked great on my monitor. It was for a coffee shop rebrand here in Boise, 9 colors total, and I sent the files off on a Friday morning feeling good. Two days later the owner emails me a photo of the printed menu and the tan came out straight up pink. My heart sank. Turns out I never checked the actual hex value against a real swatch book, I just eyeballed it and called it done. I dug in and the pink problem was one channel value being off by 12 points. I spent that Sunday rebuilding the whole set from a physical fan deck instead. Now I pull real chips before I lock anything in. What do you all do to catch these before print, do you proof on paper or just trust your screen?
