Serious question, is using red on a finance app taking advantage of people?

I just finished a project for a budgeting app. They demanded all warning alerts be in bright red to scare users into premium plans. Red means danger, sure, but it feels like we're preying on money stress. I suggested softer oranges for cautions, but they said red converts better. Now the app uses color theory to push purchases from worried folks. That sits wrong with me. Where do we draw the line between smart design and being sneaky?

When you say "red converts better," is that the only metric that matters? Feels like they're trading trust for short term bumps.

Yikes, that's shady as hell. They're turning budget alerts into horror movie trailers, lmao. Next thing you know, the app will play a scary sound when you overspend. It's like psychological tricks for pocket change. But sure, red converts better until users delete the app in panic. Classic short-term thinking.
