A guy at the Dayton farmers market asked me which of my two red jams was strawberry
Last month I was selling jam at the Dayton farmers market and had my strawberry and raspberry jars side by side, both with the same red label and only the tiny name text to tell them apart. A customer picked one up, turned it over twice, and finally had to ask me which was which. That was the moment it hit me: my labels were useless to anyone who can't separate red from red. I redid them the next weekend with different label shapes and a big S or R printed right on top, and now nobody has to guess. If you sell anything in jars, what do you put on the label besides color?
