Feeling the pressure to read everything versus just enjoying random stories

I hate feeling like I'm not a real fan if I skip major events, but diving into deep lore can ruin the fun. Where do you stand on comic book gatekeeping?

Ever feel like you need a PhD in comics just to enjoy a single issue? I tried to read every major event once and my brain short-circuited. @faith_hill94 is right, just own what you like and ignore the gatekeepers.

That "homework" feeling is the worst, lol. What kind of gatekeeping hits you hardest, like getting side-eyed for not knowing some 90s crossover or just sticking to indie stuff?

Gatekeeping over indie vs mainstream hits me hard. Best thing is to own your taste and shrug off the side-eye. Your music journey is yours alone.
