Question about the guy at my local shop in Denver who said kids shouldn't read new comics
Last Tuesday at Mile High Comics on Colfax, a regular named Ray told me I was wasting money letting my 9 year old start with current runs instead of Silver Age reprints, said new stuff has no soul. I get where he is coming from, since those old books built the whole thing we love, but my kid has read her Ms. Marvel trade 11 times and now she wants to make her own zines. So which is it, do new readers need the classics first to earn their stripes, or does any book that hooks them count? Curious how you all handle this when a new fan walks into your shop.
