Hit 500 logged dives in the Gulf last month and it kinda snuck up on me
I was doing a routine inspection on a platform leg off Galveston when my supervisor told me to check my logbook, and there it was, dive 500. I started back in 2006 with a rusty old Kirby Morgan and a guy named Dale who taught me to always check my umbilical twice before splash. Back then I figured I'd do this for a few years and move to something easier, but here I am at 43 still crawling around in the murk. Funny thing is the equipment has gotten so much better, but the job itself feels about the same as it did 20 years ago. Any of you old timers still keeping a paper logbook or did everyone switch to the apps?
