Rant: gear bag strap snapped on the boat deck, took 4 hours to sort in port
Last Tuesday out of San Pedro, I was hauling my bag up the ladder and the shoulder strap just gave out. My regs, mask, and fins all bounced across the deck. Not one piece broke, thank god, but the bag itself was toast. I figured id just grab another at the shop, but every place on the pier wanted like $80 for something with no real padding. Ended up using zip ties and a spare rope to rig it, which held for the day, but then I spent 4 hours at home sewing a new strap from an old harness. Has anyone else had a bag fail mid-trip like that? What do you actually trust for daily gear?
