Update: my week in the Gulf went sideways when the hose got snagged on a pipeline riser at 90 feet
I was working a 4 day job out of Galveston doing some shallow inspection stuff on a jacket. Tuesday morning we dropped in around 6 am, water was decent, maybe 3 foot visibility. I'm down at 90 feet checking welds when my tender starts yanking my hose. Turns out the current swung me and my umbilical wrapped up on a pipeline riser. Took me about 20 minutes to wiggle free and I was breathing hard by the time I surfaced. My supervisor chewed me out for not calling it in sooner. Cost the whole crew like 3 hours of downtime. Anyone else had their hose get hung up on structure and how do you keep it from happening again?
