Wasted $700 on a rebreather scrubber I didn't need

Got talked into swapping out my scrubber before a Gulf job because the shop said my CO2 reading looked "borderline." Turns out their sensor was shot, mine was fine, and I ate the cost plus two days of downtime. Anybody else get nickel and dimed by gear shops pushing parts you never asked for?
