Kept a folder of driver installers on a USB for 6 years, then lost a whole Saturday to it
For years I carried a 32GB stick loaded with driver packs and old installers, thought I was the prepared one on every job. Last month a client's Dell on Windows 11 wouldn't take any of my saved network drivers, so I ended up tethering my phone and pulling them straight from the vendor. The whole thing took 20 minutes after that, and I'd wasted about 5 hours fighting files that were 2 years stale. Now I just keep a tiny Linux drive for data rescue and grab drivers live, the saved pack was mostly dead weight. Anyone else still hoarding installer folders, or did you make the jump too?
