Got called out for my broom finish being too rough on a driveway in Phoenix

I overheard a homeowner telling my boss at lunch that the texture on their new driveway looked like it was done with a wire brush instead of a broom, and I was standing right there. Honestly it stung because I put a lot of care into the timing and pressure, but looking back I think the mix was a little dry that day. Has anyone else had a customer complain about finish texture and how did you explain or fix the issue without sounding defensive?

Man, honestly I gotta ask - is this really that big of a deal? It's a driveway, not a piece of furniture in their living room. People drive and park on it, spill oil, let the sun bake it for years. A slightly rough texture isn't gonna ruin their life or their property value. I've seen guys get sideways over broom lines, and nine times out of ten the homeowner forgets about it after the first rain. Unless you gouged it or left a visible pattern that's actually dangerous to walk on, I'd just tell your boss the sun was hitting it weird and move on. Some folks just like to nitpick anything they paid for.

Yeah, is it really worth fighting over broom marks?
