My old super in Phoenix said weekly safety meetings are a waste, and I'm starting to think he had a point
We ran a 14 month job down in Phoenix and he cut our toolbox talks from 45 minutes to 10, put the saved time into pre-task planning with each crew, and we finished with zero lost time incidents. My current company still does the full hour every Monday and our near miss rate hasn't moved in two years. I always hated the guy's shortcuts but the numbers don't lie, so what am I missing here? Anyone else seen shorter safety meetings actually work better than the long ones?
