PSA: My punch list hit 300 items on a 12,000 sq ft job and the owner said that was NORMAL
I always figured a list that big meant we were failing, so I pushed the crew hard to close it down to 40 before the walkthrough. The owner walked the site in Greensboro with me and said most builders hand over with 300 open items and just keep a guy on call for 6 months. Am I wrong for thinking a mostly clean list at handover is worth the extra two weeks, or is the industry just used to sloppy closeouts?
