PSA: I welded the container corners to a steel beam frame instead of building a wood floor system, and it killed my bounce problem for $280
Spent weeks fighting flex in my 40ft build in Tucson until I caught a guy on YouTube bolting a 4 inch channel across the corrugated walls at 3 points, which firmed up the whole thing and let me skip the subfloor joists completely, so has anyone else tried steel strapping over timber for this?
Man, this is a good one to bring up. I watched a build video a while back where the guy ran channel iron across the container walls at a few spots instead of messing with a wood floor frame, and he swore it took all the spring out of the floor. The way he explained it, the corrugated walls are basically a big steel web, so tying them together with strapping spreads the load out instead of letting one spot flex. For 280 bucks that sounds like a steal compared to the lumber and time you'd burn on joists. Seems like more folks should be talking about this instead of just defaulting to wood.
