Update: my 40ft build in Boise went from 74F to 81F in one week and it was a $90 mistake
I skipped the thermal break tape on my studs because the guy at the yard said it was overkill, and after the first 100 degree week my infrared thermometer showed every stud reading 8 degrees hotter than the wall between them. That is a straight shot of heat coming right through the steel into the drywall, no insulation can stop it once it crosses the frame. Has anyone tried the 1/4 inch poly strips instead of tape, and did it make a real difference on your temp readings?
