The gap property in Safari took me 4 years to notice
I was messing with a portfolio layout last Tuesday and realized Safari has supported `gap` for flexbox since 2021, not just grid. I had been adding margin hacks to 14 separate cards for no reason. Now I'm wondering how many other basic properties I've been avoiding out of habit. Anyone else got a browser support fact that made you feel dumb when you finally looked it up?
How is this a "4 years late" thing though? Flexbox gap landed in Safari 14.1 back in 2021, sure, but bugs kept popping up with it for ages. I remember testing it in mid 2022 and hit weird spacing issues with wrapped rows that Chrome never had. So yeah it was "supported" on paper but not always safe to ship. The real win is when caniuse goes green across the board, not when one browser flips the switch. Plenty of people weren't dumb for waiting, they were just being careful.
