A fake QR code on a parking meter at 5th and Main nearly drained my checking account
I parked downtown near 5th and Main two weeks ago and paid with my phone like always, but the kiosk had a sticker over the real QR code. My bank called 20 minutes later about a $312 charge to a site I never heard of, and they froze my card on the spot. Now I always peel at the corner of any QR sticker to check if it is stuck over the original, and I pay inside whenever I can. Has anyone else run into these sticker scams, and did your bank cover the charge?
