Talked with a neighbor about password managers and he changed my mind

Was chatting with my neighbor Dave over the fence last Saturday. He said he uses the same password for everything and got hacked twice last year. I tried to explain password managers but he just shrugged - any tricks to make this stuff click for people who hate tech?

Tell him to write passwords on paper and hide them, same idea but simpler.

Yeah "write them on paper" sounds simple but my buddy tried that and it backfired hard. He tucked the paper in his desk drawer and his kid found it during a "treasure hunt" game. The kid was like six and didn't know what it was so she just left it on the floor. Dog got it. Chewed it up. He spent the whole weekend locked out of his email and bank accounts resetting stuff. He said it was like playing charades with a customer service bot who kept asking if he was a robot. Never again.

Ha, yeah @wendy_clark the paper idea sounds good until you realize your hiding spot is either "under the keyboard" or "the same drawer you check three times a day"... I once put mine in an old sock drawer and forgot it was there for six months, thought I'd locked myself out of my whole life.
