I finally asked my colorblind friend to test my app's dark theme
We were grabbing a coffee in Portland last week, and I showed him a new project on my phone. He squinted and said, 'The error message looks the same as the success message to me.' I had used red and green for those alerts, which was a big mistake. Now I'm redoing all my status colors to use icons and text labels too. Has anyone else had to fix a color choice after getting feedback like that?

Wyatt's right, my friend's kid couldn't tell the game pieces apart.

Happens with everything from traffic lights to wiring diagrams. We build the world for how we see it, then act surprised when other people see it differently. Your fix is the right move, adding icons and labels is just good design. Makes me wonder what else I'm missing because it looks fine to my eyes.
