I always left out volunteer work from my portfolio, but not anymore

I once thought only paid jobs showed my worth. After a charity logo I did led to a full-time offer, I see its value. Do you include unpaid work in your portfolio?

I used to skip volunteer projects too, but they actually helped me get a few gigs. Showing you care about the work can be just as good as getting paid for it.

My buddy Dave helped build sets for a school play last year. The director hooked him up with a paid summer job at the theater downtown. Honestly, he just did it to help out and it turned into steady work.
