Hit 500 hours in Illustrator and realized I still can't pick good colors

I finally crossed 500 logged hours in Illustrator last month but my color combos still look like a clown car vomited on the canvas. It surprised me because I thought time alone would fix bad taste, but it turns out I've been reinforcing the same bad habits. Does practice actually improve color sense or do you need to step away and study color theory separately?

Dude, "clown car vomited on the canvas" is the most accurate description of my art folder. I've got like 800 hours in Photoshop and still pick colors that look like a bad 90s website. It's kind of a relief to hear someone else say it cause I thought I was just broken or something.

Youtube tutorials finally clicked for me when I stopped trying to match the colors and just stole color palettes from photos I liked. Did you ever try that? Saves a ton of headache.
