The 2am contrast fail that made me ditch my monitor
I was putting together a landing page for a client in Minneapolis and picked a dark navy text on a charcoal background. Looked fine at midnight, but at 9am on my office monitor with sunlight coming in, I could barely read the words. Turns out my screen brightness was cranked way up, so contrast looked way stronger than it was. I checked it with a free WCAG contrast checker and the ratio was like 2.1 to 1, absolute garbage for body text. Now I step away for a few hours and test on my phone and laptop before calling anything done. Has anyone else had a design look fine at night but fall apart in daylight?
