My neighbor's 12 year old shredded my band flyer and told me why

We were stapling posters for a show next week and he said the type was too boring to stop him on a skateboard, so I redrew it with a fat magic marker and the venue sold out in 2 days, has anyone else had a kid give them a better critique than their actual clients?

Kids already know what grabs attention because they haven't learned to filter themselves through what's "professional." Your clients are too busy worrying about looking legit to admit their flyer looks like every other band poster on the pole. But the real lesson here is that you tested your design in the wild, not in a focus group, and the market answered. That kid did you a favor by being honest, most adults would've just walked past and said nothing.
