Remember when coworking spaces actually felt like communities?
I popped into one of those spots in Austin last week after not visiting one for like 5 years and it was totally different. Back in 2018, people actually talked to each other and shared tips over coffee. Now everyone's just staring at their own screens with headphones on, hardly any conversations happening. The setup was all high-end booth seats too, not the big shared tables where you'd naturally meet someone. Anyone else miss that old vibe or is it just me?

Dude, you completely nailed it. I stopped by a WeWork in Denver about six months ago and it felt more like a library than a coworking space. Everyone was in those high-back pods with noise-cancelling headphones on, not even looking up. I remember back in 2016 my old spot had this big kitchen table where you'd end up talking to the guy coding next to you about his startup over bad coffee. Now it's all just silent, isolated cubicles with a fancy sign out front.

Read an article saying coworking spaces are turning into "alone together" zones.
