An old-timer telling me about client lunches sparked some nostalgia
He mentioned that customers often brought hot meals for the installation crew in the past! Now, it's mostly quick snacks or nothing. How often do you all see this kind of thing today?

Yeah, those "hot meals" really show how things have changed (everything feels way more transactional now, you know). It's like that personal trust got replaced with a quick handshake.

Totally get what you mean. I read this article about how business deals used to be built over long lunches, like actual relationship building. Now it's all emails and quick calls, everything tracked and measured. That personal touch is just gone, and it makes everything feel cold. The whole system pushes you to move fast and cut corners on trust. It's sad because that human connection was what made work actually mean something.
