inJust realized I chose the wrong paper stock for a 500-run event program
Last year we printed a thousand menus on that beautiful, slick 130lb gloss. The first week, three servers told me customers couldn't mark their changes with the golf pencils we provided. The ink just pooled and slid. You get so focused on color pop you forget people actually have to use the thing. It's a lesson in balancing looks with real world handling.

inShoutout to my old boss who convinced me to skip the vapor barrier under my slab, a decision that cost me over $2k in moisture damage repairs last spring.
Man, what did your contractor say when you showed him the damage?

inCan we talk about how mute buttons on video calls set us up for embarrassment?
Ugh, my buddy wasted an hour on a report because the stupid "save" icon was a tiny floppy disk next to a bigger download arrow. He clicked the wrong one and lost everything.

inA user told me my green/red status icons were useless to them
Totally agree with @keith_thompson on this. Ran into the same problem with a traffic light system on a report. Swapped to check, dash, and X for good, okay, and bad. The number of support tickets about it dropped to zero overnight. You really have to assume someone using your stuff can't see color differences. Icons with distinct shapes are just way more reliable than color alone.

inMy nephew couldn't tell which button was 'submit' on my website's form
Used to just slap a color on buttons and call it good. Your nephew's comment shows why that's a bad plan. Clear text labels are the most reliable, and adding a simple icon next to the word can give a second visual clue. It's about making things work for everyone, not just people who see color the same way you do.
