I just baked my 200th loaf of sourdough and the number hit me

Oh man, a buddy of mine spent hours on a piece and someone just quoted the price tag back at her. @lily_sullivan82 totally gets it.

Shoutout to the random guy who showed me how to sharpen my lawnmower blade properly

Three years ago my neighbor Dave wandered over while I was trying to fix a leaky hose bib and ended up teaching me the trick of using a wine cork as a temporary washer (which I had a dozen of in the recycling bin). Saved me a trip to the hardware store and about 30 bucks, plus I felt like a genius for weeks. But honestly, I think the real lesson here is that strangers with nail files are secretly the unsung heroes of suburban life.

Tried a power stretcher with a shorter handle and got better results on a tight hallway job

Used a 15 inch on a stair job in Pittsburgh and it changed everything.

Took me 45 minutes of scrubbing to get burned cheese off my air fryer basket because I didn't line it with foil

Oh no, my friend did the same thing and her pan was ruined! @betty_ward was right.

My buddy Rob told me his $6 army surplus tarp outlasted three of my fancy backpacking tents and I had to sit down.

Hear me out on this one... I get the appeal of cheap gear that just works, but there's a reason we pay for the higher end stuff. Your buddy's tarp might be a tank, but I bet it weighs like 5 pounds and takes up half his pack. My tent is light, packs small, and sets up in under a minute. Also, durability isn't just about lasting years, it's about not failing when you're stuck in a storm. A cheap tarp can get the job done for sure, but I've seen the duct tape fail on friends in heavy rain and wind, and that's not fun. I'd rather replace a zipper every few years than wake up soaking wet because a seam ripped out under stress.
