Just read that a basic 10x12 backyard studio can add over $20k to a home's value in my area. Found it in a local real estate report.

Add over $20k to a home's value" is a bit misleading. That's just an estimate based on averages and local comps. The actual value it adds depends entirely on what a specific buyer is willing to pay.

My old foreman told me to always trust my gut over the wind gauge

Oh man, this is so true. A buddy of mine ignored a weird feeling about a shortcut home one night and ended up with a flat tire in a really bad spot. He says he knew it was wrong the second he turned. That gut feeling is no joke, the_val. He just sat there with the doors locked until a tow truck could get to him. It really changed how he makes those little choices now.

From my recent projects, I'm seeing a shift towards using local aggregates to cut transport emissions

My last project used stone from three states over, so the truck basically had its own frequent flyer miles.

Had a stubborn autopilot altitude hold fault on a King Air this morning

That's actually a static port on the ADC, not a static line port. Those tiny cracks are a pain. I've had luck using a bright pen light at a sharp angle to cast a shadow in the defect. Sometimes a little soapy water bubble check is faster than a visual hunt.

Shoutout to labeled bins for appliance part storage

Totally pointless in the end" is exactly what my brother said until he spent 45 minutes looking for a specific bolt in his disaster bucket. I read an article a while back that called this the "clutter tax," the time you waste searching for stuff. Sure, you sometimes find a forgotten part, but you lose way more time than you save. That messy system only works until you need something specific in a hurry, then the fun treasure hunt turns into a frustrating chore.
