I thought those $40 scalp scrubbers were just a fad for a while.

Right? That weird film is the worst.

I thought those deep root watering probes were just a gimmick until I saw a 30% growth difference on a stressed maple in my own yard.

But how do you know the probe itself made the difference? Maybe the tree just needed more water in general, and you could have done the same thing with a soaker hose. I've seen plants bounce back just from a good soak during a dry spell. Could be you finally gave it what it was missing, not some magic from the tool.

I was helping my uncle rewire his kitchen in Toledo and he insisted on using wire nuts for everything, even the new GFCI outlets. I mean, I get they're cheap and he's used them for 40 years, but I think Wago lever nuts are way safer and faster for a DIYer. What's your take on the old school vs new school connection debate?

My grandpa was an electrician in Detroit for fifty years and he swore by wire nuts. Said if you twist them right with lineman's pliers, they make a cold weld that won't come loose. Those push-in connectors feel like a temporary fix to me, like they might vibrate out over time. Why fix something that has worked perfectly fine in millions of homes for decades?

Serious question, is a bone folder really that much better than a smooth metal spoon?

I read a bookbinding forum post years ago where a guy swore by using the rounded end of a guitar slide for creasing leather. Said the weight and curve gave him more control than any traditional tool. Honestly, most of this stuff is about what feels right in your hand. If a spoon gives you a cleaner line, that's your tool now. The fancy gear is just a suggestion.

Noticed a big change in a client's red oak after switching from deep root watering to surface mulch

Honestly, the mulch probably helped the soil life more than the water change. All those worms and bugs moving in keep the roots happy in a way a hose just can't. We forget trees had a whole system working for them before we showed up.
