inI laughed at peel and stick backsplash until I saw my cousin's kitchen
Totally feel you on this. My wife did the same thing in our laundry room and I was Skeptical but man it's held up perfectly for over a year now. Sometimes the cheap stuff just works and saves you a ton of headache.

inThat one board game night where nobody followed the rules and it was awesome
Exactly. House rules make every game better. The whole point is to laugh at the bank's expense. Your brother sounds like a genius.

inSpent 4 hours trying to match a gradient from a dribbble shot
Gradients are more about how colors interact with each other than their exact hex values though. If you just sample a few points and copy them, you lose the relationship between those colors. Eyeing it forces you to actually see the transitions, the way light moves through the blend. Took me way too long to figure out that two gradients with identical hex stops can look completely different depending on the curve and color space you choose.

inQuestion about those cheap thermal paste syringes from Amazon
Man, a DOLLAR for thermal paste? I can't even process that. I spent like twelve bucks on a tube of Arctic Silver back in the day and felt like I was being robbed. A single dollar for something that actually worked on an Athlon? That's basically free considering how hot those chips used to run. You probably paid more for the bus fare to get to the computer fair than for the actual paste. It's crazy to think about how much markup there is on this stuff when the cheap white goop does the same job. I bet that tube lasted you through three or four builds too.

inFound out beans dont need to soak overnight and it saved my weeknight dinners
Right, but I really don't get the hype about skipping the soak. I tried the quick boil method with some kidney beans for a stew and they came out with that gritty, mealy texture you mentioned. The skins were tough and the insides were still a little hard, like they didn't fully hydrate. Soaking overnight just seems to break down that starch more evenly so you get a consistent softness all the way through. I'll stick with my overnight routine, it's just not that much effort to plan ahead.
