My client's "growth plan" was 14 pages taped to a whiteboard in Reno, and one number made me laugh out loud
I drove up to Reno three weeks ago to meet a guy who runs a small marketing shop, and he walked me into a conference room with 14 pages of his growth plan taped across a whiteboard. Halfway through his pitch he proudly pointed at a line that read "hire 3 people, get 40 more clients," and I had to bite my cheek to keep from laughing. I asked him what those 3 people would actually do all day, and he just stared at the board for a good 20 seconds. Turns out he never once asked his current clients why they stayed. How do you all figure out what your team actually needs before you start hiring?
