Unpopular opinion: a client portal migration should not take 5 days, but mine did
Spent all of last week moving one client off a shared drive and onto a proper portal. Five days. For one client. The hold up was 2,000 files and about 300 of them had duplicate names from old save habits, so the sync tool kept stalling and throwing errors I could not trace. I tried renaming batches by hand first, which was a waste of a whole afternoon. Then I found out the portal had a dedupe setting buried in admin that I never turned on. One checkbox. That was the fix. I sat there at 9pm on a Thursday in my kitchen just staring at the screen. Anyone else got a portal setup story where one dumb setting nearly broke them?
