Shoutout to the 3 client rule I made up in a panic last Tuesday
I run a small 4 person shop here in Boise and things were getting messy with scope creep on retainer clients. Last Tuesday I got so fed up that I scribbled a rule on a sticky note and slapped it on my monitor. Any client who sends more than 3 separate requests in a single day gets moved to a call instead of email threads. That was 6 days ago and I have already had 4 clients ask for a quick 15 minute chat instead of firing off 12 messages. Weird part is nobody got mad. They actually said the calls felt faster. I tracked it and my team got back about 9 hours of billable focus last week alone, which for us is real money. The sticky note is still there and I keep staring at it like it might stop working. Has anyone else put a hard cap on daily client requests, and where did you land on the number?
