Serious question, why is everyone calling basic pattern matching 'AGI' now? I saw a demo in Austin last month that was just a fancy chatbot.

Got me thinking about this contractor I met last week. He was going on about his new "smart" level that connects to an app and talks to him. Showed me the thing, and it's just a regular level that beeps if you're off by a degree, same as my ten year old one. People slap a buzzword on something old and suddenly it's a revolution. Feels like that's happening everywhere now, not just in tools.

Reminds me of the "smart" toaster my cousin bought, robinson.reese. It burnt the bread just as well as the dumb one.

Honestly, it's the same with "smart" home stuff. My neighbor spent a fortune on these kitchen lights you control with your phone. They change colors and all that. But you know what? You still have to flip the old wall switch to get power to them, so half the time the app can't even find them. It's just a regular light with extra, broken steps.
