Spotted a clever fuel cap trick at a small regional airport in Ohio
I was waiting out a delay in Dayton last week and noticed a Cessna with a spring-loaded clip holding the fuel cap tether, something my hangar never uses. It looked like a cheap mod but it kept the cap from dangling against the paint, which got me thinking about how often we ignore the small stuff that causes wear. Anyone else picked up a simple field fix like that and ended up adopting it on their own birds?
That spring-loaded clip thing is such a good catch. My old 172 had a cap that kept slapping the wing and I just lived with the scratches for years. Finally zip-tied a little loop of fuel hose to hold it and felt like a genius.
