TIL the hard way about torque seal on landing gear bolts at KLAX
I was doing a wheel change on a 737 at LAX last Tuesday and skipped putting fresh torque seal on the main gear bolts because I was in a rush. The inspector caught it during the final walkdown, and we had to redo the whole torque sequence on all 12 bolts, which ate an extra 45 minutes before pushback. Now I keep a spare torque seal pen in my breast pocket at all times, even on quick jobs, because that delay cost us the gate slot and the crew was not happy. Anyone else have a close call with a simple step that turned into a paperwork nightmare?
