That one panel that just would not talk to the keypad
I was putting in a DSC Neo system at a house in Tacoma and the main panel kept showing a comm fault with the keypad. I checked all the wiring twice, even swapped the keypad, but it was a bad resistor on the board itself. What should have been a 30 minute setup turned into a 4 hour hunt. Anyone ever run into a weird component failure like that on a new panel?

Used to think bad resistors were just a fluke on old gear. That kind of failure on a brand new board is a real pain, totally get why it took forever to find.

Yeah, I used to think bad resistors only happened in old, worn out stuff too. But finding one right out of the box on a new DSC board (it was a tiny surface mount thing near the terminal block) totally changed my mind. Now I always keep a meter handy to check the basics on the board itself, not just the field wiring.
