TIL I could make 4 meals from one $6 rotisserie chicken if I stopped trying to make it last for sandwiches

I had to decide between buying a rotisserie chicken for $6 or buying packs of chicken breasts for $10 at the store near my house in Orlando. Picked the rotisserie chicken and shredded it all at once. Got tacos, soup, a casserole, and chicken salad out of it. Has anyone else found a way to stretch one chicken into multiple dinners?

Vent: That "simple" electrical panel swap took me 14 hours

I figured I'd swap out an old Federal Pacific panel in a 1970s bungalow near Whyte Ave in one afternoon, but every single wire crumbled when I touched it and I spent 8 more hours than I budgeted running new home runs. Has anyone else dealt with antique wiring that just disintegrates on you?

Had a connector fail on a CRJ900 last week and it changed how I clean terminals

Was working a panel on a CRJ900 at MRO Tech in Oklahoma City. Had a D-sub that tested fine on the bench but gave intermittent readings on the bird. Pulled it apart and found corrosion hiding under the crimp. My usual routine was just a quick wipe with contact cleaner. Now I'm using a fiberglass brush and DeoxIT on every single pin before I seat it. Shop foreman saw me doing it and said "that's how we did it in the Navy." Anyone else run into hidden corrosion in crimped connections?

I fell for the hype on a $75 coffee grinder from Amazon

Saw this budget grinder with like 5000 five star reviews. Figured it was a steal for espresso. First week it worked fine, but by day 10 the grind size was all over the place. I ran maybe 3 pounds of beans through it total before the motor started making this weird clicking sound. Now it's sitting in my closet and I'm back to hand grinding with my old Hario Skerton. Anyone else get burned by those cheap electric grinders with fake reviews?

Just realized choosing between Marvel and DC isn't the real debate for us fans

Had to pick which longbox to keep after my basement got a little damp. One box was all my 90s X-Men runs, the other was my early Image stuff like Spawn and Savage Dragon. I picked the X-Men because I thought they'd be worth more later. But now I find myself missing those weird Image comics way more than I expected. Kinda makes me wonder what other fans pick when they have to choose between sentimental value and potential value.

Got a call from a builder in Boise last Tuesday about a foundation that was already poured with the wrong rebar spacing

The inspector flagged it after the concrete was down, and now we're looking at a $15,000 fix to core drill and add dowels, has anyone else dealt with an approved drawing getting missed like that?

Vent: Paid $120 for a "smart" coffee maker that can't even make a decent cup

I bought this fancy wifi coffee maker last month thinking it would change my mornings. The app takes 45 seconds to connect every single time and half the time it just brews cold water. The touchscreen is so dim I have to use my phone flashlight to see the buttons at 7am. Anyone else get burned by kitchen gadgets that try too hard to be smart?

TIL I hit 1,000 covers in one shift at my new job last Saturday

I work at a busy joint in Portland and we had a big festival come through town. I counted 1,042 covers between lunch and dinner service with only one small backup on the grill. Has anyone else had a shift where the numbers just surprised you like that?

That old school hand taping trick I swore by till I tried a banjo

Been doing drywall for 20 years and always used a hand trowel for taping corners, you know, the old way. Last week on a job up in Tacoma I borrowed a guy's banjo (the taping tool, not the instrument) and honestly it cut my time on a 12x14 room by almost 45 minutes. The learning curve was real though - had to go back and resand three seams cause I laid the mud on too thick at first. Has anyone else had that issue where the banjo just feeds way faster than your hands can keep up with?

My weekend spreadsheeting went sideways and I actually fixed it

I spent 12 hours building a budget tracker in Excel last Saturday. Got to row 87 and the whole thing froze up, lost two hours of work because I hadn't saved. Instead of rage quitting, I walked away for 20 minutes, came back, and rebuilt just the broken part in 45 minutes using simpler formulas. Has anyone else had a system crash kill your planning session and found a weird workaround?
