Update: My local anime club's discussion about 'Vinland Saga' season 2 got super heated last Thursday.

We spent over an hour just on the farm arc's pacing, and the moderator had to step in when two members nearly started yelling about whether Thorfinn's character development was earned or just boring.

Man, that sounds intense. Was the fight really about the pacing, or did it just tap into a deeper split about what makes a good story? Some folks just want action all the time and can't handle a slow burn.

Yeah that deeper split is totally real. It's like some people only watch for the big fights and cool animation. They see Thorfinn just working in a field and think nothing is happening. But the whole point is his inner war, trying to find a reason to live after being so broken. If you skip that quiet build up, the payoff later just won't hit the same way.
