Warning: I thought the 'watch subs not dubs' thing was just gatekeeping until I tried it with One Piece
Last year I finally gave in and switched to subs for One Piece after watching 400 episodes dubbed, and the difference in the voice acting during the Enies Lobby arc honestly shocked me. I was so sure the dub was fine, but Luffy's scream when he's fighting Rob Lucci hit way harder in Japanese, and now I'm wondering if I ruined other shows for myself. Has anyone else gone back and rewatched a favorite arc in the other language and had a totally different take on it?
