Just figured out a 30 second fix for a dryer that won't heat, saved me a $180 part
Had a call in Reno last Tuesday for a dryer that ran but stayed cold. I almost ordered a new heating element, but then I remembered a tip from an old timer about checking the thermal fuse first with a simple continuity test. The fuse was blown, and the real problem was a clogged vent hose behind the unit that caused it to overheat. Swapped the fuse and cleaned the hose, and the dryer heated right up. Customer was happy and I didn't have to wait on a part. Has anyone else seen a thermal fuse go bad just from lint buildup like that?
