PSA: Don't let a homeowner watch you work on their fridge

Last month I had a job in Phoenix where a guy stood right over my shoulder the whole time I was replacing his compressor. He kept asking why I wasn't moving faster and tried to tell me I was doing it wrong. I finally told him he needed to wait in the other room or I'd pack up and leave. Has anyone else had customers hover like that?

Oh man, that's the WORST. I had a guy literally lean over my shoulder while I was soldering lines on his ice maker and he kept "suggesting" I needed to use more flux. Like, dude, you called ME for a reason. I finally just stopped mid-solder and stared at him until he backed off.

Heard a similar story from my buddy who does appliance repair. He was fixing a dishwasher for this older guy and the dude kept following him around with a flashlight, shining it right where he was working. Like, my friend could see fine, the guy was just making it harder. Finally my buddy just turned around and asked if he wanted to hold the flashlight too. The guy got all embarrassed and went and sat down in the living room.
