That chat with a neighbor made me double check my parts ordering

Guy two streets over told me he lost a full repair job because the part he ordered was a revision off by one digit. I know my supplier has that same issue with compressor relays, spent an hour cross checking part numbers on three units last night. You trust your local supplier's database or do you verify against the manufacturer's list every time?

...and that's exactly why I triple check everything now, even the stuff I've ordered a hundred times. Tbh I once spent a whole afternoon installing what I thought was the right capacitor, only to find out it was the metric version and my unit was standard. My neighbor still brings that up at block parties. Ngl, the supplier's database is convenient but I treat it like a suggestion, not the gospel. Manufacturer's list is the only thing I trust when a part number looks even slightly off.
