Warning: spent 7 hours chasing a dryer no-heat call that turned out to be a tripped breaker in the panel
Had a dryer call last Tuesday in Fresno where the lady swore it ran fine but just wouldn't heat up. I pulled the back panel, tested the thermal fuse, the element, and the high limit stat, all reading good on my meter. Took me 7 hours over two trips before I finally walked out to her garage panel and found one half of the double pole breaker tripped. The dryer was tumbling on 120 volts the whole time and I felt like a rookie. My rule now is check voltage at the outlet first, every single time, before I drag out a single tool. How many of you skip the simple power check because the customer says the outlet works fine?
