Why does nobody talk about testing the defrost heater before swapping the timer?
Ten years in and a guy named Ray who trained me back in Ohio finally called out my habit last month. He said I was parts swapping instead of diagnosing, and he was right. On a Whirlpool fridge in Akron I had already ordered a $52 timer when he asked if I ohmed the heater first. Ran the meter and it was open at 40 ohms, heater was done the whole time. Now I meter every load before I order anything. How many of you got a Ray who set you straight?
