Bought a cheap pole pruner off Amazon and it snapped on the second branch

Needed to reach some high limbs on a big maple in my back yard here in Ohio. Found this $30 pole pruner with good reviews so I figured what the heck. Got it set up, extended it to about 12 feet, and went for a 3 inch branch. The rope broke and the head flew off, almost hit my neighbor's car. So now I'm out the money and gotta borrow my buddy's real setup. Anyone else get burned by those bargain pole pruners online?

My buddy had that same 30 dollar pole pruner from Amazon and his lasted through three seasons of light trimming before the rope frayed. I mean 3 inches is kind of a thick branch for a cheap setup that's barely holding together with plastic parts. Sounds like you were pushing it past what it could handle, not that the tool was total garbage. Just saying, sometimes you get what you pay for but you also gotta know when to stop pulling on the rope.
