My climbing rope got nicked by a branch at a job in Flagstaff last week

I was doing a pruning job on a big old oak and a branch cracked mid-cut, swung back, and hit my rope right at the anchor point. The rope had this gnarly cut about halfway through the core, I caught it right before it went full snap. I called the owner over and told him we were stopping everything to swap ropes, that cost me about 2 hours of work time. Good news was nobody got hurt, but it killed my favorite 200 foot line. Anyone else ever had a rope fail like that and did you trust the backup line after?
