Just spent $1,200 on a niche lead list and it was a total waste

Ok but are we really acting like buying a list is ever a good idea @fionalopez

Hot take: A zip tie fixed a coolant leak on a 6.7 Powerstroke last Tuesday.

Silicone tape never seals right on greasy plastic.

That day I finally got CSS Grid to do exactly what I wanted

Last summer I spent about three hours helping my daughter debug a flexbox layout for her portfolio site, and it was honestly the most peaceful afternoon I had all week. @kevin_murray88, I learned that if you give the kids a simple CSS challenge of their own, like styling a button, they get quiet and focused too. It's a nice way to swap arguments over screen time for shared problem solving on the same screen.

Got yelled at by a foreman for skipping a purge on a 6" sch 40 line

The way people cut corners in welding reminds me of how everyone skips the little steps everywhere now. It's not just in pipe work, it's in everything from how people cook to how they drive. You see someone run a red light to save 30 seconds and they end up causing a pileup. Or you watch a guy at the grocery store leave his cart in a parking spot because walking it back to the corral is too much effort. Same thing happens with relationships too, people skip the hard conversations and then wonder why things blow up later. Your foreman grinding out that weld was probably the best thing that could happen to you, because it forced you to sit with the shame and feel how stupid shortcuts feel when you get caught. That kind of lesson sticks with you longer than a slap on the wrist.

TIL that coffee beans lose 40% of their flavor in the first 2 weeks after roasting

Wait, you actually did a blind taste test with your wife and everything? That's wild because I used to be totally on the side of "fresh is everything" after listening to a bunch of roaster podcasts. But honestly @wrenh79, your experiment makes a lot of sense and kinda changed my mind. I've had those grocery store beans that were definitely old but still made a decent cup of coffee in the morning. The 40% flavor loss thing always felt weird to me too, like how do you even measure that?
