Old climber in Asheville told me to ditch my flip line on a spruce, and he was dead right
I was 40 feet up a 90 foot spruce with wet bark and my flip line kept sliding every time I leaned back, so the old guy watching from the ground yelled up to just use my lanyard and trust my spurs. Felt sketchy the whole climb but it worked way better than fighting that line, and now I'm wondering if flip lines are even worth it on soft bark conifers. What do you all run on spruce and fir?
